Chad McMullen grew up with a Dad and two Grandfathers who were always remodeling or working on a project around their houses.  This interaction perked his interest in construction at a young age.  At the age of 15 he started working for a General Contractor in a small town in Pennsylvania where he grew up.  He worked there summers and weekends throughout high school and while attending Pennsylvania State University where he obtained a Bachelor in Science in Civil Engineering.  Upon graduating in 1997 he worked for a natural gas pipeline construction company for one year before moving to Denver, Colorado.  Upon arrival in Denver he was hired as a building superintendent for a large residential home construction company.  In 2000 he started Appalachian Construction and obtained a Denver City and County Residential Contractor License in 2002.

Scott Kirkegaard did not grow up with a hammer in his hand but home construction was in his blood. His Grandfather and Uncle ran A.J Kirkegaard general contractors for 50 years in Colorado. Scott graduated from CSU in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and a Colorado Real Estate License. He spend the next 7 years buying and remodeling homes in the Denver area. Scott met Chad in 2002 when he hired Chad as a consultant on a large scale project in South East Denver. During the year they worked together on this project, Chad and Scott realized they shared similar taste in architecture, attention to detail, and business ethics. They decided to combine their companies in 2003. Since then Appalachian Construction has specialized in the Observatory Park area and has built over a dozen of the finest homes in the neighborhood.
